Resume Writing
Experts in the Job Placement industry have a few simple rules to employ when preparing your resume for a permanent position:
  • Keep the resume to 2 pages
  • First Section: Objective - explain the position and responsibility you desire and use terms suggesting your experience related to these areas. I.E.: A supervisory position in Information Technology with a large company that can help round out my experience with smaller companies.
  • Second Section: define all your experience that is relevant to the First Section. Ignore experience that is not germane or helpful to your securing the job you want. Keep it lasered to your search.
  • Third Section: Jobs help in reverse chronological order (most recent first), from and to years, positions held, skills used and acquired.
  • Fourth Section: Education - Advanced degrees first, followed by University then specialty
  • Fifth Section: your contact info
